If your Tectonic™ rails are not installed properly, it will cause rough operation of you cover, damage to your seals and potential leaking issues.
To properly install your Tectonic™ rails, please ensure that you follow each step outlined in this checklist.
Proper seal placement
When installing your Tectonic™ rails, ensure that you push down on the seal edge of the rail until the inside radius of the seal sits snuggly onto the bed rail.
The 90 degree notch in the seal should sit flush on the edge of the truck bed rail cap.
Ensure that the top seal is sitting nearly flat along the rail.
Rail tab placement
When installing the rails, ensure that the rail tab is butted up against the cab end of the truck bed.
"Wavy" rail seals/panels won't slide smoothly
If the flat seal on top of the rail begins to appear wavy during installation of your rails, you have overtightened the bolts on the clamps. Back the bolts up and let the seal settle until it lays flat again.
Remember, do not torque the clamp bolts more than 13 foot-pounds. If your wrench is showing 13 foot-pounds but the seals are still bulging, your wrench may need to be re-calibrated.
